A guide to providing your logo in the correct vector format?
If you're ordering anything custom-branded through Tradie Packs, one of the first things we'll ask for is your logo in vector format. But what exactly does that mean—and why is it so important?
A vector format logo is a logo file created using mathematical equations and curves, rather than pixels. This allows the logo to be scaled to any size without losing quality or becoming pixelated. Common vector file formats include .AI, .EPS, .SVG, and .PDF.
✅ Correct Vector File Types
Here are the file extensions we’re looking for when you send us your logo:
-
.AI – Adobe Illustrator (preferred)
-
.EPS – Encapsulated PostScript
-
.PDF – Only if saved from a vector program
-
.SVG – Scalable Vector Graphics (commonly used for websites)
❌ Not Vector (These Won’t Work for Print)
These file types are raster images, made of pixels — and unfortunately, they don’t scale well:
-
.JPG or .JPEG
-
.PNG
-
.GIF
-
.TIFF
These might look fine on screen, but they’ll become blurry or pixelated when enlarged for print or signage.
✅ How do I find and provide the Correct Logo Format?
-
Ask your designer or logo provider for the original vector file (Common vector file formats include .AI, .EPS, .SVG, and .PDF.)
-
How was the logo supplied to you? Did the logo provider supply a link to download a folder with all file formats, or maybe a set of brand guidelines /style guide?
-
Ask previous suppliers that have used your logo before? Maybe you have ordered printed items in the past. Workwear (Screenprint or Embroidery), Signwriter / Vehicle Graphics, Merchandise or other marketing material.
❌ What to avoid and common issues when providing the Wrong Logo Format?
-
Avoid screenshots or images from websites or emails — these are almost always raster files.
-
Don’t just rename a file to have a “.ai” or “.eps” extension — that won’t convert it into a vector.
-
Cheap online logo creators - typically cheap / free online logo makers or Ai logo generators do not provide the Vector File Types upon completion
-
Using Canva to create logos - Canva produces only raster images, but you can try export the vector format where possible (select the option to save your creation as an SVG file or Export a Print Ready PDF)
If you’re unsure, send us what you have — we can help check or recreate your logo in vector format if needed.

✅ Key Features of a Vector Logo
A vector logo is designed using mathematical paths rather than pixels. This gives it some key advantages:
-
Scalable to any size — from business cards to billboards — without losing quality.
-
Editable by designers using professional tools like Adobe Illustrator.
-
Required for high-quality outputs like printing, embroidery, signage, and laser cutting.
-
Looks sharp and professional no matter how it's used.
💡 Can you help convert the logo into the right format?
Yes, in most circumstances we can vectorise a logo. This is the process of recreating the logo from scratch, matching fonts, symbols, colours, layout as close as possible to the original logo.
Vectorizing a logo is the process of converting a raster image (like a JPEG or PNG) into a vector image.
